Vettro and Antenna – a few more thoughts

in General

Just wanted to post a quick note on how intrigued I have been with the number of searches from Google sending visitors to this article: Antenna Software acquires Vettro (sort of).  In that article we quickly brainstormed on some implications around the deal where Antenna software picks up some of the Vettro assets.  So who is doing these searches?  Many possibilities exist, but I think the searchers are current customers looking for both more information and even for possible alternatives.  As mentioned in our first post this acquisition presents opportunities for a few others companies to come knocking at any old Vettro customers.

And from a more strategic point of view:

If you are a current customer you should take advantage of this time to reassess what you need and consider other options if they are viable.  It is always good to entertain [other] vendors to see what they might offer.

Some folks on the vendor side are in agreement and see this as an opportunity to pick up a few new customers; most Google searches for Vettro, Vettro 360 or even Vettro Rainmaker will include advertising for two companies (at the time of writing this post): Dexterra and Global Bay.  In fact Global Bay’s ad is specifically geared at “Vettro Customers.”

Surely these are not the only two Vettro competitors doing this.  In fact any Vettro competitor hungry enough will (and should) pursue those old customers.   Past Vettro customers now faced with the decision to migrate should be diligent in researching what is being offered and whether or not it is a good fit for their needs.  If not, then consider other options.

If you go to www.vettro.com you will see this notice at the bottom of the page:

Please note that Antenna’s acquisition of Vettro’s assets did not include the purchase of the company as a whole.

That comment together with the quote below (please note emphasis is ours) makes you wonder who is being left out?  And then makes us take a wild guess at who is doing all those Vettro searches these days: Vettro customers looking for information and alternatives.

Here’s another blurb on it:

“Through our acquisition of select Vettro customer and partner relationships, Antenna is executing on its plan to expand channels for growth of the Antenna Mobility Platform™ (AMP),” said Jim Hemmer, president and CEO, Antenna Software. “By bringing Vettro’s customers onto AMP – and applying our world-class service and support – we will provide the security, reliability and control customers need and deserve today, combined with the vision and long-term value mobility brings for years to come.”

Antenna will continue to service the acquired Vettro customer contracts and will provide support for the suite of V360 mobile application products accordingly. When appropriate, Antenna intends to help customers migrate from Vettro’s V360 solutions to the AMP platform, an open and flexible architecture that leverages IT investments and serves as a central hub to bring together the primary elements of a comprehensive mobile deployment. This will enable customers to take advantage of a broader set of services and capabilities as a result of this acquisition.  (From Wireless Workforce Online)

Actually I support Vettro users that are having different support issues, after Antenna made some server code changes. In the past, Vettro had a support site that was readily accessible on how to solve various issues. Now with Antenna and the ‘acquisition’, I have to create an account to access the support info. Before I pay for anything, I want to make sure that they have the answers I need, otherwise, I’m just wasting time and money.
