Mobile Future

in General

This excellent (and popular) post by Helen Keegan over at the Musings of a Mobile Marketer blog has been on our minds for quite some time now.  However, in our desire to include the enterprise implications of Helen’s predictions we have let it slip far too long without writing anything.  So for the benefit of everyone and in the interest of disseminating great information and adding value to your toolkit we give you the point form version below.

Helen writes:

There are 6 reasons why, if we carry on the way we are going, there will be no future to mobile.

1. We carry on focusing on technology rather than people

2. We continue to have silly mobile tariffs

3. We create applications and services for people like us

4. We continue to nurture the culture gap

5. We remain Western-Centric

6. We forget that the mobile phone is a communication device

Every point has significant enterprise implications.  Thinking through these will help you in your efforts.  Expect a few follow up posts right here at the Mobile Strategy Blog (perhaps one for each of the above points); we will come back to this post and create a link to the follow up.  You never know, we might even hear from Helen herself.
