		<description>Email still seems to be a primary method of communicating, even in the workplace. Everyone is familiar and comfortable with it, even the luddites. 

Furthermore, emails (especially used in an email client like stormpost) allow you to use creative design elements (eg, newsletters), which is useful for many reasons (advertising, etc.)</description>

		<description>If you think about it - email at the enterprise is social networking. you have the &quot;one-email-for-all&quot; (usually allusers@companyname.com), you can send only one person, you can invite people to meetings, drinks etc... so actually the daily practice at the work place turned an email client into a social client.</description>

		<description>I dont believe that social media will inevitably take over email because email is a very large part of all businesses daily practice. Social media at the moment is generally seen separate from business use and many people like to keep their business and personal lives separate. Especially in very high profile or selling positions.
Enterprise social tools available on mobile devices may become more popular with business social sites like LinkedIn becoming more popular.</description>

		<description>Interesting... You&#039;re right, email isn&#039;t how we work anymore and unfortunately people use email as the main work mechanism. However, it is a VERY useful tool. I think the development of collaborative tools where email is a part of the interface will be how work is completed in the future.</description>

Now, if you couple the use of a social network (i.e. a rich profile page allowing people to connect their page to that of other people) together with the use of blog, wikis, social bookmarking, etc ... this could be useful to almost any kind of organization.

Also, it is not the use of social networks that will reduce the amount of emails ... it is the use (again)of blogs, wikis (and maybe microblogs)

By the way, you mentioned Twitter, Yammer and the like ... these are no social networks, they are microbloging/microsharing tools
